Che Malambo

Campus Events - May 4, 2019 - 8:00pm
Off-campus Arkley Center for the Performing Arts
Saturday, May 4, 2019, 8 – 10pm

Dance and Drumming of Argentina

A percussive dance and music spectacle, this powerhouse company of 14 performs the thrilling South American gaucho traditions of Argentina. With dueling displays of agility, strength, and zapateo—the fast paced footwork inspired by the galloping of horses, Che Malambo offers a unique performance that appeals as much to fans of STOMP as to those who love tango and flamenco. With choreographed drums, precision dancing, rhythmic stomping, and whirling boleadoras (stones attached to lassoes), fiery malambo traditions are masterfully transformed for the contemporary stage.

“They sent the audience into uproarious applause.”—New York Times
