This course offers students the opportunity to safely learn and enjoy the sport of surfing! Designed for the individual having little to no surfing experience, this course focuses on water safety, surf etiquette, ocean awareness, surfboard handling and technique. We will surf where the best conditions are, for beginning surfers. Register by Wednesday before the class. Mandatory Pre-Trip Meeting on Thursday before the event.

Family Fun Day

Our aquatic staff will give you and your family a customized paddle and safety talk and outfit you to the vessel of your choice: kayak, canoe, or stand up paddleboard. Our experienced staff will then help launch you off our dock for your own family adventure on the bay. $20 per adult. Children are free

Fern Canyon Hike

Walk through a living corridor, as the walls breathe with every step, and the stream gently trickles past you along its journey. Eight different species of ferns create the beautiful world here. Listen to the secrets that each of them hold as you take your time in this special place. Program Fee Includes: Transportation, professional guide, interpretation, and snack. Mountain Bike Maintenance+

Do you own a mountain bike and want to learn more about how to maintain your bike, learn about the local resources and local trails? Want to learn how to adjust your bike to fit your body and how to adjust your body position to ride technical trails? Come to this class with your mountain bike (lock it up outside the Library) and a helmet. We will cover these topics and afterwards have a change to try out some of the techniques on a ride through the Arcata Forest trails behind HSU (HSU is not responsible for any damages or injuries and is not connected to the ride in any way). Bring a helmet, learn lots, have fun.

River Kayaking

HSU Flight Simulator, Future of Aviation
