CAHSS Supports Black Lives

The Department Chairs and Staff of the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
(CAHSS) endorse the statements recently released by many of our departments and their affiliated professional associations.

Each expresses solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter and other movements working to resist and dismantle white supremacy. These statements reflect a collective commitment to engage these issues within our disciplines, "using education to fight systemic racism that perpetuates violence against Black lives and to further coalition-building across communities" (CRGS Statement linked below).

These statements call each of us to actively engage with ongoing movements fighting for Black lives and racial justice: they point us to multiple pathways contributing to coalition building and change.

As CAHSS scholars, we will continue to identify and deploy our interdisciplinary tools to dismantle white supremacy, as well as our own disciplinary participation and complicity in its maintenance. To this end, we support and highlight the work of scholars of color on the front lines of analysis and the activist/scholar fight against systemic racism.
